Category Management Course in Egypt

A live online course for retail and FMCG professionals in Egypt, on Sunday and Wednesday evenings, priced in Egyptian pounds.

The short answer

RCMA's Retail Category Management Essentials is a live online category management course for retail and FMCG professionals in Egypt. Sessions run on Sunday and Wednesday evenings at 8:00 pm Riyadh time, which is 7:00 pm Cairo time in winter and 8:00 pm in summer, each 90 minutes, on Google Meet. It is taught in Arabic with the English terms used in retail and FMCG companies, in small cohorts, by a category management practitioner who works in Gulf pharmacy retail.

Who it is for

  • Buyers and assistant buyers in supermarket, hypermarket and pharmacy chains who want to move into category management
  • New category managers who want a complete, structured method
  • Trade marketing, key account and sales professionals at FMCG companies and distributors
  • Data and commercial analysts who support category teams
  • Graduates who want to start a career in retail or FMCG, in Egypt or in the Gulf

No prior experience is required. Being comfortable with numbers and Excel helps.

Why it fits the Egyptian market

The method of category management is the same worldwide, but the Egyptian market has its own pressures. The course works through them with practical examples:

  • Price sensitivity: shoppers compare prices closely, so price points, pack sizes and promotions weigh heavily in every decision.
  • Pack sizes and value: smaller and value packs often decide how a category grows, so the range must cover every price level.
  • Ramadan and seasonal peaks: demand shifts sharply, so range, stock and promotions must be planned well ahead.
  • Modern and traditional trade together: chains, pharmacies, kiosks and online all sell the same brands, which affects pricing, promotions and supplier terms.

A route to Gulf roles

Many Egyptian professionals build careers in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the wider Gulf. The course uses the same English terms and methods that Gulf retailers and FMCG companies use, with examples from both markets.

What you will learn

The course covers the full category management cycle in 13 live sessions: category definition and roles, master data and the product hierarchy, the Customer Decision Tree, category performance and the scorecard, assortment and delisting, inventory and availability, pricing and promotions with post-evaluation, space planning and planograms, supplier negotiation, procurement and Joint Business Planning (JBP), and AI tools for the category manager's work. Each session works on applied examples and exercises.
